How 333 Began
333 Designs was established in 2006. We originally specialized in flowers; however, during one of our wedding deliveries, we came upon a crying bride and a very stressed-out mother. Being the florists, there was only so much we were able to help with, especially only hours before the wedding ceremony was to start. Walking away, we were saddened by what we saw. We knew that something had to be done to make planning fun again and eliminate the stresses that caused these kinds of tears. Weddings and events should not be so extremely stressful, should they?
At the next wedding, we assisted with Corrie Spearing was a friend of the bride’s, so she stayed on after the flower delivery to attend as a guest. The bridesmaids quickly pulled Corrie aside to help with solving issues and with directing the day’s events. Afterward, there were several people that asked why Corrie didn’t offer planning and coordinating as well. Seeing the needs firsthand fueled the passion and energy in Corrie to develop the launch of 333 Designs Wedding Planning and Flowers.
Before the beginning
About Corrie Spearing (CEO)
Corrie Spearing was born with an appreciation for all things elegant and beautiful. With a keen eye for detail, it was only natural that she became interested in the event and design world. Her official career path started in 2004; however, looking back, some could argue it started whe
n she was six years old…
Some say her destiny was set on Christmas evening when Corrie, at the age of 6, opened a box with a complete child-sized wedding dress and accessories, handmade by her grandmother Mibs Spearing.
“I still remember the feeling I had when I opened
all the boxes. My grandmother didn’t leave off any detail.
She even had satin shoes with special beading and a bow.
She had made a garter and put together a silk bouquet of flowers.
My grandmother was a very talented woman.”
However, in their pretend weddings Corrie wasn’t typically the one wearing the wedding dress. Instead, she would dress up her friends and siblings and would organize mock weddings. Playing “wedding” seemed to be one of her favorite games even well into her teens with friends at camp. “We would all be hiking and stumble across an old chapel… I would quickly organize friends, and then we would “perform” a ceremony. Honestly, it’s quite comical thinking about it now.” says Corrie.
Years passed and Corrie began developing more professional skills that would one day lead to her life in the wedding and event world. Her knack for anything creative became apparent, and soon she was pursuing her dream of event design with all the enthusiasm necessary to create a successful company.
Corrie, an incredibly gifted and versatile person, describes herself as “an artist raised by an engineer.” For example, you will get the excel spreadsheets for your event, but they will be all color-coordinated too! She has an upbringing in construction and can build just about anything. Corrie’s grandmother, Mibs, passed on her love of sewing to Corrie. She has helped friends sew their own wedding dresses. Moreover, having an eye for fashion as well, she has designed ball gowns, repaired the bustle of brides’ dresses, etc. She has also done hair and makeup for several weddings. Corrie has taken classes in cake design and has even created a wedding cake at the last minute when the expected cake didn’t arrive. She also has helped cater many events; and at a local restaurant, she worked as a chef, filling in for several weeks.
Additionally, Corrie has taken photography, art, drama, and speech classes. Where there have been classes to learn professional, creative skills, she has taken them. Today, Corrie continues to push herself, learning new skills, and daily acquiring professional event planning knowledge.
Corrie has experience with every type of corporate, non-profit, and fashion event. She has coordinated and designed hundreds of weddings and events, both local and destination. Her influence extends to San Antonio, TX; Atlanta, Georgia; Nashville, Tennessee; Birmingham, Alabama; Tampa, Florida and Miami, Florida; Chattanooga, Tennessee; Las Vegas, Nevada; New York City; Cabo San Lucas, Mexico; and of course, to her home city of Huntsville, Alabama.
“Looking back now I can see how God’s hand was directing me. Who would have guessed that all those years of ‘playing wedding’ would lead to this?” ~ Corrie Spearing
Anything you dream, Corrie can create. So dream big; you won’t be disappointed!
